Weighty Matters

We’ve all heard to eat right and exercise our entire lives. It’s really that simple, yet, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the percent of adults age 20 years and over who are overweight is 69% The percentage of Americans who are obese is 36%. If it’s so simple then why are […]

Hunger

Like most people on psych meds, I gained weight after taking them. I read recently that most people gain 7-14 lbs average. Once again, I have to disagree with these statistics based on my own observations. I would guesstimate that 30 – 50 lbs as the average. Unfortunately I went way beyond that. By the time […]

The Darkness Fades

“Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by assholes.” William Gibson’s quote above has been one of my favorites regarding depression. Using the quote as a gauge I can definitely say I was depressed last week because I was not surrounded by […]

What the Hell?

Last week I was so proud of myself. I ate healthier than normal. I ate smaller portions than normal. I did a lot of outdoor walking as well as using the treadmill and elliptical at school. I was really sticking to the Weight Watchers plan. I weighed in today at 214.6 which means I gained […]

How is Bradley – Physically?

Well, I’m Trying to Keep my Promise

In my recent post I stated I was going to post something every day in hopes that my old blogging skills will revive.  Unfortunately I haven’t stayed true to that promise I made myself.  Things aren’t really going that bad for me, I just have lost my blogging mojo.  I swore a couple of times […]

The Holidays

I’ve been very pleased with my weight loss.  Just over the holidays I lost 3 pounds!  3 pounds may not seem like much, but the average American gains 15 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years.  I was hoping to just stay steady, so I’m extremely happy that I even lost a little.

Frustration

I have friends who talk about how awful their pdocs (psychiatrist) are. They claim their pdoc never listens to what they say, and won’t make any med changes even when asked. It feels, at times, they are talking about Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde.  I always felt lucky. The pdoc I first worked with, Doctor Lisa, would spend a […]
