If there’s one thing we learned from the death of Robin Williams, it’s that celebrities have an impact on the publics perception of mental illness. It made people around the world stop for a second and think, It could happen to anybody. There are some quotes from celebrites who have been diagnosed with mental illness, such as Catherine Zeta Jones. And there are quotes from mental health advocates, such as Glenn Close. Here, I present to you, a small sampling of celebrity quotes on mental illness:
Are there any in particular that resonate with you? Any that are your favorites?
Carrie Fisher’s statement about being a survivor and she has to keep getting into difficult situations to show off her gift made me think about the times depression or hypomania to extremes. I got knocked down a few times and got back up and did it well. Now, of course everyone expects the same immediate results, but this last depression knocked the stuffing out of me.
I also like Catherine Zeta-Jone’s statement, “There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help,” How I wish this message could be shout out to the world and the world would take notice. So many won’t seek help because of the stigma connected with mental illness.
I always connect with Carrie Fisher. She is my bipolar idol. I’ve ordered a couple of her books for my Kindle and someday I’ll get around to reading them. Catherine’s is a great quote and is very similar to Jane Pauley’s.

I definitely relate to Winona Ryder’s quote. Good days and bad days and the depression is just always kind of there. Yep.
Yes. I’ve made similar statements here. Even when things seem to go very well, you can always feel it lurking in the background.
Great quotes, Bradley. I can identify with almost every single one of them.
Good to see you, Rose. Thank you, as always. for your comments
