Still Gaining

I just got home from Weight Watchers and once again I’m not happy.  I gained another 2.8 lbs. I’m now at a total of 58 lbs. lost.  Sounds great except at one point I was at 90 lbs. total lost.  (sigh)

You may recall that I gave all my bigger clothes to Goodwill and had bought inexpensive clothing that fit better as I continued to lose.  The new clothes all felt better and looked better, however, that’s not true anymore.  I have many shirts that don’t fit me any longer because they are too small.   I can still wear all my pants and shorts, but they are getting tight.

Late night eating is one of my big challenges and someone at the meeting today suggested putting a chair in front of the kitchen to tell your brain the kitchen is closed.  Someone else suggested having a cup of hot herbal tea to tell your brain the same thing.  There were other suggestions, but those are the two simple ones that  I am going to try.

The other positive note is since I dropped my class at college I now have no classes until February.  This makes me very excited.  I now have plenty of time to take my daily beach walks again.  This will also keep me out of the house, which means I won’t be sitting around snacking all day.

So, yes, I did gain again today, yet, I feel very positive about future success.  I refuse to go back to Goodwill and buy my old clothing back.

  1. Wonderful outlook! I know exactly how you feel about the weight loss, I too lost a substantial amount, 70 pounds and got rid of my big clothes, just gained 10 back and now the mediums are too tight…sigh it will be a life long fight for me but I will never give up. I also lose it at night and have found cup of soups to be a great help as some of them have hardly any calories and yet you feel like you are really having something as opposed to herbal tea. Anyways, had to add my two cents 🙂 Have fun with the beach, you are so lucky to have it close by and keep up the great attitude, you have made me feel better about myself just reading your blog today,,,,thank you Bradley!

  2. Eat vegetables, which I say with love. I defy you to get fat eating vegetables, especially raw ones.

While my internet connectivity is problematic for the next week, feel free to drop me an email at themirrorbooks@gmail.com if you need someone to chat with. I might be a bit slow in responding until my new ISP hooks me up, but I am always here if you need me.

    Cheers.

    1. I was a vegetarian for many years and vegan for 2 – 3 years. Never lost a pound. I’m sure it had to do with the meds though. Fortunately for me, I love fruits and vegies.

Thank you for your kind words and email address.

  3. Why don’t you have a go at jogging? I know for a fact that this is great for weight loss and it can be fun if you run gently in a safe place and maybe even wear some headphones with your favourite music that you can jog to. And find out if there are any running clubs in your area, so you can make new friends as well.
Or how about riding a bike?

Whatever you do, don’t buy back those clothes. It won’t make you feel good in the long run. Instead keep focusing on getting into the new ones.

    How about doing some zumba?

    1. I don’t run or jog, but I do walk. When I go to the beach I walk along the strand for nearly 10 miles. I also have a rule of thumb that if I’m going somewhere that is 5 miles away or less I walk there. That’s how I lost the 90 lbs… and will again.

  4. Chestnut (the dog) and I are starting to walk Trump again….and we walk a few trails up here. I invite you to come with me. Call and we can arrange – also, I’d love to walk your beach walk with you, too. Let me know!

  5. I have always been 30″ waist….until I started meds and now I’m bursting out a 34″ waist. I try not to weigh myself and I’ve started walking a little extra each day. It can’t be easy but beach walking sounds half the battle…also sounds lovely!

    1. Yeah, the meds don’t make it easy to keep the weight off. It’s a struggle many of us go through. The beach walks are lovely and helps to calm the brain down for awhile.

      1. My favourite part of the day is walking my dog 2hrs in the morning. It is my time to think… sometimes ruminate. I’m sure people must see me talk to myself some days!
