“Although healing brings a better life, it also threatens to permanently alter life as you’ve known it. Your relationships, your position in the world, even your sense of identity may change. Coping patterns that have served you for a lifetime will be called into question. When you make the commitment to heal, you risk losing much of what is familiar. As a result one part of you may want to heal while another resists change.”
– Courage to Heal Workbook by Laura Davis”
I can relate to this statement very much – Many many changes have been occurring over the last year and as of last night I’m afraid another huge one is in motion. I try to look forward – and I wonder if I’m ever going to make it through all the healing I need and all the learning about myself that I have yet to do; or if I’m just going to end up back at old habits and start the cycle over again.
I love change…as long as it’s me making the change. Anything else and I go into anxiety overdrive, so I can relate to what you’re saying. Best wishes on adapting to all the changes in your life right now.
I love this quote and it also scrares the crap out of me. I might have to steal it. thanks Bradley 🙂
You don’t have to steal it, Joonie. You may share it.
