Mood
I’ve felt good all week. I can’t recall a single moment of depression and anxiety. Well, there is always that feeling of depression laying under my skin nagging at me. I don’t know, maybe it’s anxiety instead. Either way, this week was about acceptance. Accepting that feeling will likely always be there and I just need to acknowledge it and keep moving on. It’s much like knowing that full depression and anxiety will be back, but I won’t allow that to prevent me from enjoying this moment right here and now. It took a lot of time and therapy to reach this point.
We took a long weekend and went to our church camp in the mountains. We always have a lot of fun and enjoy socializing, but it is exhausting. That exhaustion can easily turn into depression, but that’s not part of my plan. I’m grateful that I’ve been able to enjoy it, have fun, and lots of laughs.
Weight and Fitness
Because we were in the mountains, I didn’t get my Saturday weigh in. I’ll have to update next week. The lodge served us three meals a day and the meals are pretty heavy. In addition, there were four large tables completely covered with snacks 24 hours a day. I visited them all regularly. I’m more than a little nervous about my next weigh in.
Writing
I did find a cute gazebo at the camp which turned out to be the perfect spot for writing. A peaceful setting amongst the pines. I spent many hours writing and editing there and still had plenty of time to socialize. I think it’s my new favorite spot.
I realized last week that I post a lot about my writing, but haven’t given many clues what I’m writing about, so here’s a quick synopsis. It is a mystery novel set primarily in the gay communities around Los Angeles. Gay mystery novels are a popular niche market the past several years, however, I hope to have a story that anyone, gay or straight, can enjoy.
The murder takes place at a gay club and the victim is a man who is prominent in the television industry. The victim had been in a relationship for over twenty years, but had a boy toy on the side. The boy toy was arrested and jailed for the murder. Of course, it’s the detectives job is to prove his innocence.
The other suspects are:
The victim’s lifetime partner
A go go boy
The victim’s daughter
The victim’s brother-in-law who is a wealthy businessman and is prominent in Los Angeles society
A supervisor at the club
Additional characters in the story are:
The detective, of course, named Mitch. Before becoming a detective, Mitch was in the military and served two tours in the middle east.
The club manager
Mitch’s sister, who is a wild party girl and has a tendency to get Mitch in trouble
That’s all I’m going to say. Somehow, I’ll have to find a way to give updates without giving too much of the story away. More will be revealed.
Love the pictures and thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us 🙂
Thank you for stopping in and commenting
I’ve been reading you blog pretty regularly. I really enjoy your writing. I think you’ve found your calling. Its something you enjoy and you’re good at. And, hopefully, someone will pay you to do it…..someday.
Thank you, Joe. That means a lot to me. I hope someday is not too far off
Sounds lovely in the mountains. Best of luck as you continue writing your mystery novel.
Thank you, Kitt. Always good to hear from you.
Your new favorite spot looks gorgeous!
Enjoy the mountains 🙂
It is gorgeous. I wish it was where I could use it every day.
I can understand that feeling. Maybe you could build your own perfect spot at home? 🙂
That’s something I’m working on. I currently write from a big desk with large shelves and it’s all just too much. I plan to take off the big hutch and leave just the base, then add plants, etc to make a more peaceful place to work from
That should work! More visual freedom! 🙂
I hope you manage to arrange your place just the way you want it! 🙂
Well, I’m HOOKED! Will definitely buy your book. Can’t wait til its out =D
You just made my day
